During our interesting tour, you will learn a lot about the past of the town. Between the 18th and 19th centuries, Carlsbad was one of the most famous European resorts. Kings and presidents, writers and composers, aristocrats from all countries came here to receive healing spa treatments. You will learn some funny facts and romantic stories about the celebrities, who have recuperated here. Beethoven, Mozart, Schiller, Kafka, Russian Tsar Peter the Great, Turgenev and Tchaikovsky had been spending their vacations it this fashionable resort. You will also learn about twelve sources of mineral water and the “thirteenth source", which is local Becherovka liqueur. Another favorite vacation spot beloved by locals and tourists is the Smetana Gardens located in the city center between the main post office and the Elizabeth’s Hospital. There, you’ll see the flowerbed where flowers are daily replanted in the shape of the current calendar date.
